Roz Hunter

Roz Hunter is a fundraiser and communications strategist specializing in non-profit media. She has 15 years of experience working for non-profit, journalism, and labor organizations. Her work has resulted in millions of dollars of funding for non-profit media.

Roz’s clients have included the Institute for Nonprofit News, Type Media Center, Economic Hardship Reporting Project, Haymarket Books, The Texas Observer, Hammer & Hope and more. She is the former head of development at Jacobin and works with the fundraising firm Gallagher Group. Roz also frequently works for labor organizations and electoral campaigns, currently serving as the fundraising lead for the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee.

Previously, Roz served as deputy director of Type Media Center, where she led development of institutional support, directed grant writing, and worked with the CEO to lead fundraising strategy and editorial priorities. She also directed communications strategy, events production, and managed much of the operations of the organization. Prior to that, she worked at The Nation and International House Philadelphia. Roz holds a B.A. in film studies and political science from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.A. in women’s history from Sarah Lawrence College.

Over the years, Roz has produced numerous fundraising events and galas. She is experienced in working with high-profile speakers and has prepared speeches on a range of political and social issues, from emcee scripts to honoree acceptances to fundraising pitches.
